As the Communications Director for S360’s Colorado team, Nico helps clients craft and execute strategic communications plans. This includes collaborating to fine tune effective messages, offering media training, and helping clients navigate and adapt to Colorado’s political landscape. Clients can lean on Nico for his significant expertise in political and strategic communications, press relations, campaigns, and Spanish language advertising.

Nico began his career as a Legislative Aide in the Colorado State Capitol and a Field Organizer for Everytown for Gun Safety prior to serving in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Volunteer in Peru. He has since worked on the successful campaign for Senator John Hickenlooper as the campaigns Deputy Press Secretary and Spanish Language Media Advisor. In this role, Nico built a roster of speakers, pundits, unions, and advocacy organizations to influence the conversation in state media and drive the campaigns defining narratives. His work secured dozens of placements with the campaigns core messaging included in print and online coverage worth over $53,000 in ad value equivalency.

Following his time with Senator Hickelooper’s campaign, Nico became the Strategic Communications Coordinator for Conservation Colorado where he crafted communications plans in English and Spanish for various campaigns to pass climate bills at the state legislature and rulemakings in regulatory agencies. Just before joining S369, Nico served as the Communications Advisor for the Colorado Democratic Party where he acted as the on-the-record spokesperson for the Colorado Senate Campaign.

Originally from Miami, Nico moved to Colorado where he earned degrees in Sociology and International Studies and a minor in Spanish from Colorado State University. Nico lives in Denver with his partner and two cats – Oscar and Valentino. He is involved with Denver’s LGBTQ+ community, including as a dancer and choreographer for Denver’s drag performers.
