Tim runs our Oregon operations. During his 20-year career as a leader in the public and private sectors, Tim has established a strong record of success achieving market and policy solutions. A strategic communications and government affairs expert with a wealth of experience in energy and the environment, Tim joined us from the office of Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber where he served as communications director.
In his role as a senior advisor to the governor, Tim served as spokesman, strategist and speechwriter. He led a proactive communications team in support of successful education, healthcare and public safety legislation. He forged strong working relationships with local and national media, including The New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, NPR, Rolling Stone and Politico.
Previously, as government affairs and communications director for Pacific Ethanol and as Western Representative for the American Wind Energy Association, Tim worked to expand markets for renewable energy producers and led broad coalitions of business, civic and environmental groups to pass energy legislation in Oregon and other western states.
Tim has also worked for the Trust for Public Land and The Nature Conservancy and has wide-ranging experience directing and advising multiple successful ballot measures and legislative campaigns. Tim is at adept using campaign tools and methods — polling, message development, media relations, coalition building, lobbying and the strategic use of financial resources — to win elections and influence policy.
Tim lives in Portland with his wife, Kate, and three teenage children. Together, the family enjoys overnight tour camping on their bikes, running and the glories of urban chicken tending. Born in Washington, D.C., Tim has also lived in Santiago, Chile and Guatemala.
Tim is a graduate of Carleton College with a degree in History.
