Patty brings more than 15 years of experience leading unique and successful communications and strategy campaigns on a wide variety of issues from health care to labor. She was the communications consultant for Measure 101, which passed by 23 points in January 2018. She also led the campaign that passed HB 4005 for prescription drug transparency in the 2018 legislature with a bipartisan supermajority.
Prior to joining S360, Patty worked with the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, the Washington Health Care Authority, the state of Hawaii, and the Center for Outcomes Research and Education/Providence Health Systems on strategic health care initiatives. For five years she was also the communications director of the Oregon Health Authority where she led the multi-agency communications and outreach campaign for Oregon’s health reform legislation that received widespread support among stakeholders, health systems and news media. In that capacity, she oversaw a team of between 12 and 23 public affairs specialists, social media coordinators, and designers for print and digital. Patty also served as communications director for Governor Ted Kulongoski and at the Oregon Department of Human Services. Prior to state service she worked in Oregon progressive politics. She was the first communications director for Our Oregon, served as the communications director for the Oregon AFL-CIO, and worked on several ballot measure campaigns.
Patty is a former Oregon reporter covering politics, the environment and health care. In addition to her work at Strategies 360, she serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children, serves on the Governor’s workgroup for Youth and Children with Special Needs, and is and a volunteer facilitator leading writing workshops for the non-profit Write Around Portland.
