Patty brings more than 15 years of experience leading unique and successful communications and strategy campaigns on a wide variety of issues from health care to labor to S360’s Oregon Office.
Prior to joining S360, Patty worked with the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices, the Washington Health Care Authority and the state of Hawaii on strategic health care initiatives. She was also the communications director of the Oregon Health Authority where she led the multi-agency communications and outreach campaign for Oregon’s health reform legislation that received widespread support among stakeholders, health systems and news media. Previously, Patty served as communications director for Governor Ted Kulongoski and also at the Oregon Department of Human Services.
Patty has a long history of working with diverse coalitions, including for Our Oregon and the Oregon AFL-CIO on legislative policymaking and ballot measure campaigns. During that tenure, she led an aggressive communications campaign that exposed fraud and abuse in the initiative system leading to significant reforms in Oregon. She also oversaw the communications and earned media campaign that led to the defeat of deep-pocketed, out-of-state interests pushing harmful ballot measures in 2006. Patty is a former Oregon reporter covering politics, the environment healthcare. Her favorite journalism experience was when she stayed overnight in a tree, sleeping 150 feet off the ground with logging protesters.
Patty is a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), working for foster children in the court system. She also volunteers as a writing workshop facilitator for Write Around Portland. She is married to Tucker Jackson, a community college teacher and musician. They enjoy camping, hiking and travel.
