Greg Hayes is a long-time legislative strategist and communications consultant, political advisor, and entrepreneur. He worked in the California State Legislature for eight years, and served as an executive at companies in various industries from finance to clean tech.
Prior to beginning his work as a Legislative Advocate nine years ago, Mr. Hayes served as the Communications Director for Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles). He also served as an energy advisor to the Senator and was a key player in the development of Proposition 39, for which Senator De León served as campaign co-Chair and which voters passed with more than 60% of the vote in 2012.
At Strategies 360, Hayes provides counsel for a variety of advocacy and public affairs accounts including TechNet, the leading voice of the technology sector. He also provides legislative and regulatory assistance to Warner Bros., Subaru, and the California Association of Veterans Service Agencies.
Previously, Mr. Hayes was president and co-founder of Clean World Partners, LLC – a bioenergy company that built the first solid organics waste-to-energy plant in the United States using technology developed at UC Davis. Mr. Hayes’ diverse background includes serving as an executive at the Hanson McClain companies (now Allworth), Managing Director for Hill and Knowlton, Senior Account Manager with Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, and working as a legislative aide and press secretary to four state Senators in the California Legislature.
Mr. Hayes currently serves on the advisory boards of a Bay Area consumer software start-up company and ViZn Energy, which produces grid storage batteries for renewable energy production.
Mr. Hayes earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.
