As the Government Affairs and Communications Associate for Oregon, Efren helps the Strategies 360 team and clients with local government and campaign issues including research, writing, meeting arrangements and organizational support.
Before joining Strategies 360, Efren served in the Office of Governor Kate Brown working in Constituent Services and connecting with Oregonians across the state. He began his time in the Governor’s Office as a Strategic Communications Summer Fellow in the Communications Department.
Previously, Efren worked for a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act-funded at-risk-youth program in Marion County. There, he gained insights into the issues and challenges facing everyday Oregonians. His ability to connect and build trust with his clients were key to successfully guiding youth through their education and career goals.
Efren proudly helped establish and support Willamette University’s first Vice President of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. In this role, Efren managed the communication and outreach strategy for the first comprehensive Campus Climate and Equity Study. He was able to achieve over five times the response rate of other universities who administered the same survey.
A proud Oregonian, Efren was born and raised in the Salem-Keizer, and still lives there. Inspired by his mother, Efren cooks homegrown food for his loved ones, and can be found brewing his own Kombucha in his spare time. He graduated from Willamette University with a Bachelor of Arts in Civic Communication and Media with Departmental Honors.
