As director of government affairs for Idaho, Benn leads our policy and political work, serving as a lobbyist and political advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients. As a fifth-generation Idahoan, Benn brings extensive knowledge and relationships in the policymaking realm. Not afraid to tackle any issue or solve any problem, he matches his willingness to serve with a relentless dedication to making sure the job is done and done right.
Before joining S360, Benn served as Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter’s field director on his 2014 reelection campaign and later as part of the Governor’s Office, serving as special assistant to the Governor and as the Governor’s liaison to various state agencies including the Idaho Department of Agriculture, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, Idaho State Tax Commission, Idaho Division of Human Resources and PERSI, the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho.
Benn has a proven track record of success on issues at every level. His work advising on state agency budgets, creating and implementing policy and facilitating collaboration between industry and state officials has provided a solid foundation for advising clients and state leaders on a diverse range of issues, including immigration, taxes, agriculture, natural resources, Second Amendment, corrections, transportation, retirement and pension savings, agency management and more.
In his spare time, Benn enjoys Idaho’s great outdoors by hunting, fishing, backpacking, shooting and attending rodeos. He loves music, food, Fitbit challenges, and spending time with his wife Laural exploring the world. Benn also serves on the Board of Directors for the Man Up Crusade, a nationwide non-profit working to reduce domestic violence. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Boise State University, where he graduated with honors and was an officer in Phi Alpha Theta.
