The Challenge

Assist coalition of Alaska Natives, fishermen, hunters, and anglers in their ongoing fight to stop a foreign corporation from building one of the world’s largest open-pit mines at the headwaters of America’s most valuable salmon fishery.

The Strategy

Developed and implemented aggressive in-state and national media campaign.

Recruited and trained dozens of unique new spokespeople for the campaign.

Underscored the overwhelming support from elected officials, sportsmen, tribes, Native Corporations, media, business and community leaders, and the public.

Secured editorials or coverage in national publications, including the New York Times, Washington Post, National Geographic, ESPN, and many others.

Over 1200 unique news stories published within a year.

The Success

Opposition to the controversial mine is at an all-time high, with a majority of Alaskans now in opposition to the project (just 33% favor the mine).
